Kenya’s Supreme Court has declared invalid the re-election of incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta. They have subsequently directed that the electoral body should run fresh elections in sixty days.
“The declaration (of Kenyatta’s win) is invalid, null and void,” said Judge David Maranga, announcing the verdict of four out of the six judges.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), declared Kenyatta winner of the August 8 polls with over 60% of votes as against Odinga’s 40%.
The main opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) led by veteran opposition leader, Raila Odinga, headed to court with a petition, citing what they said was technology produced victor in the polls.
